Training

Training is Essential

The perpetuation of the gospel of Jesus Christ depends on trained workers. Jesus spent three years training his leadership. He called, taught, trained and then committed His work to His disciples. If we are to survice as a denomination, and if the tenets of our faith are to be conveyed to another generation, the Church of God must be prepared to teach. The imperative is to train more workers.

Training is Available

In times past a great injustice was done to local workers when the church demanded from them higher results without furnishing proper training for their job. The Church Training Course (CTC) program, instigated by the General Department of Youth and Christian Education in the mid-1950s, has greatly made amends for this injustice. Many individuals have participated in the program and have qualified themselves for more effective ministry. Recently, in the mid-1990s, the program was restructured and a new name was given to the program: Advance in Ministry (AIM) / Church Training Course (CTC) program of training.

The courses in this training program include training in specific areas of Christian education, as well as elective studies dealing with biblical subjects. They can be studied individually, as well as in small or large group settings. Those who participate in the program and read the texts included will gain knowledge which will assist them in their spiritual growth, as well as in their specific area of ministry.

Most of the texts included in this program are written by Church of God authors. Other titles have been selected because of their subject matter in order to enhance the training potential of local church workers.
