At the 2005 National Children’s Ministry Conference in Greenville, South Carolina, the four winners of the Shepherd’s Cup Award were announced. Awards are given to individuals who have excelled in children’s ministry, served in ministry for longer than ten years, set high standards for others to follow and have made children’s ministry a priority and lifetime commitment. The winners of the 2005 Shepherd’s Cup Award are:

Danny Thornton - Rose Heights Church of God, Longview Texas

Terry Kemp - Penn Forest Church of God, Roanoke, Virginia

Jodi James - Lakeside Church of God Ft. Worth, Texas

Robert Crick - Cooper City Church of God, Cooper City, Florida

Other awards were also given at the conference for excellence in children’s ministry. Garrett Gardner from Praise Cathedral in Greer, South Carolina received an award for her “Above and Beyond” approach to children’s ministry. Butch Condon from Rivers of Living Water in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Donnie Turner from Liberty Church of God Worship Center in Lexington, Kentucky were both recognized with the “Dare to Soar” award as up-and-coming children’s ministry leaders.

Nominations for winners were received from Senior Pastors and State Directors of Youth and Christian Education. The 2006 award nomination forms will be available at www.extremegen.org on January 1, 2006.
