Fundraisers for Your Children's
Ministry, YWEA or Missions
Christmas offering:
Each Christmas, on the Sunday of our children’s Christmas program,
the offering is given to Children’s Ministries. This is a good
fundraiser for special items that are needed or for special events.
However, this offering could be given as a YWEA or missions offering
instead. Attendance is typically high for children’s programs
and so a good offering is usually received.
Spring Clean Yard Sale:
In late April, plan a church-wide yard sale. Rent out spaces (you
decide how much – we charged $10 last year for a 10’ by
10’ space) in your gym, fellowship hall or parking lot for
people who would like to sell. You can also decide whether to rent
out tables ($5) or not. You can also request donations from those
who don’t have enough for a booth of their own. We opened
up our gym for 2 hours the Friday night before to allow people
to set up their table(s).
All proceeds from the Children’s Department table will go
to the department, YWEA or missions. Individuals keep proceeds from
their table and are reminded to tithe on their earnings.
A notice should be placed in the local newspaper as a church-wide
yard sale with the date, time and location. Also, you may want to
add “no early birds please”. The first time we did this,
people showed up 45 minutes early while some people were still setting
up.
Mail out flyers to the other churches in the district advertising
the sale. Also consider allowing people from those churches to rent
spaces.
Optional: Coordinate with another department in the church (youth,
ladies ministries, etc) to run a concession stand.
If you have ideas to contribute, contact Tony Lane at ycessce@extremegen.org.
