Christmas Charity
Since we are an inner-city church with a bus ministry, we have many
needy children that attend our church. At Christmas we have our version
of the Angel Tree for those children in the church that may not have
much of a Christmas without our help. We have organized the program
in several different ways over the years.
One method is to send an information form home with those children
who your Children’s Board and pastor decides needs help. On
the form, request the child’s name, age, sizes and hobbies.
This information (excluding the child’s name) can be included
on a paper ornament hung on a tree in the vestibule of the church.
To match the ornament with the child, you could label the ornaments
1A, 1B & 1C for a family of 3 children. The next family would
be 2A, 2B, etc. People are asked to wrap the gifts and place them
under the tree by a certain date. You should also offer the opportunity
for people to simply donate money and have a designated group of
shoppers to purchase gifts for children left on the tree.
If you have ideas to contribute, contact Tony Lane at ycessce@extremegen.org.
